Sports Day 2023

We are so proud of how our children competed during Sports Day this year.

Well done to all of our medalists!

Coronation Celebrations.

We celebrated Charles III’s coronation with our own parade around school. We had ice-cream and a picnic to mark the occasion.

Ancient Egyptian Day

To celebrate their termly topic, Primary 5 had an ‘Ancient Egyptian Day.’ There were mummies, archaeologists and Pharoahs all wandering around Gracehill’s corridors. The children enjoyed eating traditional food, playing ancient games and even solving an escape room puzzle.

Senior Cup Final

The school are incredibly proud of our football team who beat Carniny PS in a tense 1-0 semi final to progress to the coveted Senior Cup Final.

They went 1-0 up against Ballykeel in the final but unfortunately lost 2-1 in the end. The team left nothing on the pitch and gave it their all. Very well done!

Rugby Blitz

The school rugby team took part in a blitz at Coleraine RFC on 28th March. They played Macosquin & Damhead, Straidbilly, Carniny and Bushvalley. They came away with a few wins and some hard earned bruises! Well done!

World Book Day 2023

What a celebration of reading! There were so many amazing costumes and we loved how creatively the children displayed their words.

Well done to everyone!

Our World Book Day Competition Winners

As well as getting dressed up, our students all took part in a competition celebrating the word that they dressed up as on World Book day. Well done to our winners and enjoy your book token!

Ballymena Show

These girls came back to school with some impressive medals and certificates from the Ballymena Show.

Well done girls, we are very proud of you!

Many thanks to Ms Bristow for her help.

Senior Cup Football

The Gracehill football time had a roaring success in the group stage of the Senior Cup.

They beat Broughshane PS 6-0, drew with Buick 1-1, beat Ballymena PS 6-0 before seeing off Fourtowns PS 3-0 in order to progress through to the finals day.

They will play the top 4 teams in Ballymena to compete for the prestigious Senior Cup. Well done!

Fancy a new sport? How about Olympic Handball?

Both P6’s took part in an initiative with Ballymena Primary learning a new sport; olympic handball.

Over the course of 4 weeks the children learnt new skills and rules. Thank you to Eugene and Luke for coming in and working with the children.

Football Friendlies

Over 30 children travelled to play football against Buick Memorial Primary on 23rd January. Both schools were able to field 3 teams of children so there were plenty of goals! The children had a terrific time. Many thanks to Cullybackey College for their help as well in organising the event.

Snow arrives at school!

Film Festival Workshop

Two film experts from the Nerve Centre visited P5 in December. They helped demonstrate to the children how sound adds so much to the narrative and emotion of a story. The children then recorded sounds before editing trailers for the recent Lightyear film.

Gracehill Scarecrow Festival

Every year the village square welcomes a whole host of new visitors! Here are our pupils checking out some of the fantastic entries.

The Eco Committee have been out getting their hands (and wellies) dirty!

Gracehill & Galgorm Women’s Institute gifted us some crab apple trees to celebrate their 85th birthday and came along to help us plant them.

The committee have also also have been tidying up the year group raised beds.  Good job, well done!

Eco Committee Get Busy

The puppets are back!

We were delighted to welcome Helen and her team (including all of the puppets) back to school on Wednesday.

They told us of God’s story and made us laugh a lot along the way. Thank you.

Odd Socks Day

To mark the start of Anti-Bullying Week, we wore odd socks on Monday. This week we will be having conversations around difference, diversity and the power of our actions and words.
How about these odd socks!
